We have been witnessing a lot of news of in-display fingerprint scanner in smartphone. Few days back, Synaptics had confirmed that they have successfully developed an in-display fingerprint scanner and they do have manufactured in a mass number.
Today, in CES 2018 VIVO had officially announced that the in-display fingerprint reader belongs to them. In very few days, you guys are gonna see a smartphone from VIVO with this display.
According to the news, this smartphone will come to the market in early 2018. But from my point of view, Vivo will launch this smartphone in MWC 2018 next month.
“With our efforts in extensive consumer research and long-term R&D investment, Vivo is well positioned to pioneer the development of fingerprint scanning technology. We first presented a prototype of our fingerprint scanning solution at MWC Shanghai 2017 based on an ultrasonic sensor, and have remained committed to realizing our vision for future smartphones,” said Alex Feng, senior vice president of Vivo,” Today’s showcase of a ready-to-produce in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone featuring an optical fingerprint sensor is a big leap forward in bringing consumers this long-awaited, futuristic mobile experience. We are very excited to make it available to consumers soon.”
VIVO making a Great Lead with In-Display Fingerprint Scanner
With this announcement, VIVO had left the smartphone giants like Apple, Samsung, etc way behind. Earlier this feature was expected to make debut with Samsung Galaxy S flagship range last year. But this was the fake news.
According to the reports, this in-display fingerprint scanner will work with OLED screen. Thus, we can expect the same scanner with LG G series, Samsung Galaxy S Series or the iPhone X. Synaptics, do have mentioned that this technology will be scratch proof and waterproof since it is covered with a glass. Synaptics claims that the Clear ID is twice as fast as the 3D facial biometrics.
